Manali is a small town in the mountain country of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is surrounded by tall pine trees, snow-capped peaks, and the flowing Beas River. Every year, many people from all parts of the country and all parts of the world come here to enjoy the cool weather, the beautiful nature, and the calmness of the town.

One of the best things about Manali is that it has something for nearly everyone. Whether you like to walk through forests with the cool sun shining through the branching leaves, experience local culture in the small downtown heart of Manali, eat delicious food, or do nothing, Manali has it all.

The Vashist hot springs are an extremely popular tourist attraction. These natural springs are said to have amazing medicinal properties. Both locals and travelers come to bathe and relax in hot springs. There are many pleasant natural hot springs pools filled with blue, warm, mineral-infused water, even in winter. The hot springs are thought to be over a thousand years old. There is also a temple nearby that many people visit, built to commemorate the sage Vashist, who was the teacher of Lord Rama from Indian mythology.

Vashist takes you to Mall Road, the busiest area of Manali town. The shopping area is always lively with tourists buying woolen garments, unique souvenirs, and local handicrafts. The shopping area has many food stalls selling momos, chana chaat, and roasted corn on the cob. There are also many small cafes where you can take a break and relax over a hot cup of tea or coffee. In the evening, the lights, laughs, and music make everything come to life.

The ambience is serene and calm. The location has hundreds of colorful prayer flags, statues, and murals. Monks generally conduct chanting prayers at this site, while visitors meditate or spin the prayer wheels. The atmosphere gives visitors a glimpse into the Tibetan way of life; this way of life is now a part of the rich cultural tapestry of Manali.

Manali is also famous for its ancient temples. One temple is the Manu Temple, which is only three minutes away from the Vashist area. According to Hindu traditional beliefs, Manu is considered the first man and allegedly resided in this enclave after the great flood. The temple is only small and simple, but it has a strong sense of time, history, and place implied in it.

The other temple of note is Hadimba Devi Temple. This temple is shaped uniquely, including stunning wooden carvings and sloped roofs. The temple sits underneath tall cedar trees, and welcomes both tourists and local people.

If you feel fit for a longer journey, Rohtang Pass is around 51 km from Manali, has glaciers, mountains, and valleys. It is an ideal location to practice snow activities like skiing and snowboarding.

Food is another joy in Manali. Walk a short distance from Vashist to Phuntsok Café, a Tibetan restaurant nearby, famous for momos and thukpa. A bit farther is Oven in Garden Pizzeria, good pizza, outdoor seating. The Beas River is a twelve-minute walk; you can enjoy your meal there in peace. If you want to find a location to sit and talk, you can walk along Mall Road to Honey Hut or Johnson’s Hotel café.

After a day of exploring, it is important to have a comfortable place to relax. Manuallaya The Resort Spa in the Himalayas is located close to all these spots. While it’s near many places, it still feels peaceful and quiet. It is a good place to stay if you want a mix of comfort and nature in your Manali trip.
